Erection of an Election…

With the dissolution of Malaysian Parliament announced by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak at around 11.32am Malaysian time today (3rd April 2013), it is official that the election foreplay has now evolved to become a full blown pre-coital bustle. What had been a tease for the past 6 – 8 months, which caused erratic, mercurial and sometimes whimsical environments in both the Malaysia’s financial and political circles, has now become a nightmare or land of dreams, depending on which side of the fence you are in.

Throughout the teasing episode, we saw Malaysia’s Bursa Malaysia swinging from bottom to top and left to right, with the big boys (major fund managers and investment houses) staying sidelined, and the market being basically controlled by the retailers and punters. Such climate may not be healthy for the generic investors, but I’m pretty sure that some serious and seasoned traders made some fortune from small gains on some penny stocks.

However, I noticed that just before the dissolution announcement was made, the market went for a short free fall, dropping almost 57 points, before settling in the black at 1,685.40 points. Technically, the free fall had messed up all technical lines, supports and resistances, created by chartists and technical analyst. However my favorite indicators (MACD and RSI) still shows a strong up-trend signal. I’m not too sure for how long such indicators will remain that way. I guess that when the Election results rolls out, then the true direction of the market will be revealed.

Speaking of Election Results.. Personally, I feel that through out Dato’ Seri Najib’s tenure as Malaysia’s Prime Minister, he had introduced (or tried to) a variety of positive changes, especially in his approach to the Rakyat (people). He had also introduced and implemented new terminologies such as KPI (Key Performance Index), NKRA (National Key Results Areas) etc, instilled communication effectiveness between inter and intra government agencies, and various other initiatives, aimed towards improving the Malaysian’s quality of life. He is more tech-savvy compared to any of his predecessors, friendlier and approachable. What shrouds his positive endeavors are the allegations circling in the grapevine, with subjects or topics inclined towards his personal and spousal lives. Off course, these allegations are fully exploited by those who stands to gain from such exploitation, but vice-versa, the exploiters are also shrouded by many issues and topics, fully exploited by those who stands to gain from such exploitations as well.

As a citizen of Malaysia, I do see and feel the positive changes implemented by the present Government (until yesterday that is..). There are still many areas and elements that needs attention, repairs and changes, be it politically, commercially and financially, and I know that it would take time for total change to happen. In the US and UK, the citizens had the chance to experience both opposing parties in rule. Example in the US, citizens are familiar with both the Republican and the Democrat’s way of rule, whilst the UK, citizens can differentiate between Labour, Conservative and Liberal party’s style of governance. However in Malaysia, we had only experienced Barisan Nasional’s version of ruling the country. Yes the Pakatan Rakyat had won some states in the last General Election (Kedah, Selangor, Kelantan and Perak for a while), but not enough to rule Putrajaya. Ever since BN lost horribly in the last GE, they had stepped up to the plate and improved many many things, including micor changes within the major component parties such as UMNO, MCA and MIC. They realized their mistakes of being complacent and taking things for granted, and that only happened when they almost lost the country.

The questions in my mind are these.. Can BN continue to bring positive and total changes to the country? Can Pakatan rule effectively if they were given the chance? Put aside all political promises, lies and bullshits.. When the shovel comes to shove, can Pakatan deliver? We have seen BN deliver and fail, but have we seen Pakatan deliver?

What say you?

The (Reality) Sith Order – Explained

Many ardent fans of the Star Wars saga has depicted and elaborated various forms or versions of the Sith and Jedi Orders, their respective values, cultures, opinions and fundamental, through various publications and medias over the years. Even George Lucas has penned down a guideline of the Sith Order, its origins and notable leaders. After watching the entire Star Wars episodes again for the…. can’t remember how many times, it dawns on me that the conflict of these two contradicting orders are rather similar to the contradictions faced by Sunni & Shia (which resembles Jedis) and the Sufis (which has an inclination towards Siths).. Now now!!.. Don’t get jumpy… Let me explain…

In Islam, the Sunni and Shias are known to be regimental in their worship and base their principals on obeying the Commands of Allah. Their ultimate goal is to gain entry and acceptance into Heavens and its bounties in their hereafter life, as promised by Allah in many verses and ayats in the Holy Quran.

The Sufis are more ‘free-spirited’ in its conformity and basically are based on love and passion towards Allah. Though their ultimate goal involves being accepted into the heavens, their doctrines towards achieving such goals involves a more complexed passion / obedience / sincerity / love mechanism, and if not managed properly, such passion can lead them to go astray.

Now, let us hypothetically link these information to our main subject… The Jedi Order which can resemble the Sunnis and Shias and the Sith Order can be reflected in the Sufis. Off course, to analyse this correctly, we’d have to remove all negative elements of the Jedis and the Siths, and just focus on their respective jurisprudence.. Jedi = Obey + Force … Sith = Passion + Force.. You see it?

Now that you’re briefly introduced to these conceptions, we’ll skip the Jedi thingy and just focus on the Sith Order.

The Sith Order basically harnesses the power of the darker side of passion (which includes but not limited to anger, hatred, fear, etc..). Even in real life, these emotional elements do bring out super-natural powers within you when you are confronted with any forms of danger or conflicts. The brain would automatically release dosage of adrenalin throughout your body, thus your body would automatically react to protect itself. The SIth Order teaches you to harness and control the direction of your anger, rage, hatred and fear towards achieving your desired objectives (as shown and depicted countless times by Dart Vader, Anakin Skywalker, Senator Palpatine, The Emperor, Count Doku..). However, all these Villains demonstrated subtle forms of positive passion throughout the saga, which was adherence and utmost loyalty and love towards their Masters. For Anakin, it was his great love for Padme that led him to become Darth Vader. Those acts it selves proves that the Sith Order does not entirely base their doctrines on villain acts alone. They have ulterior motives and objectives, which was derived from incidents of the past. Each crime has its reasons.. Why a person steals? Because he has no money to feed his family.. Why a person kills? Because some one he loves was killed by some one, the law could not get him.. Reasons are valid, methods are wrong.. It may be wrong to many, but not to some.. Like the saying goes, a cure for one, a poison to another. Anything that happens in this world is neutral.. What makes it positive or negatives depends on ones perception.. Perception alone decides whether an incident be interpreted as positive or negative..

Now that we have a better understanding of the Sith Order, let me introduce you to the Sith Doctrines of the Financial World. We can easily assume that the presets of the present financial world is managed and operated by a group of Jedi Masters, who strictly abide to the prescribed rules and regulations. They are the ones who manages the banks and financial institutions towards profitability all these years, creating gaps in socio-economies, and widening the spread of wealth amongst communities.

Now the Siths uses their capabilities and expertise in closing the gaps of socio-economies and limiting the spread of wealth created by the Jedi bankers, in an effort to make things right (or ‘make the world a better place’!). But then comes the bad Siths, which basically destroyed the US financial market recently, by creating bogus or over-inflated real-estate based junk bonds, and leveraging it with super risky investments and other leverage trading. You guessed it.. The financial instruments created by Siths penetrates the markets controlled by the Jedis, all hell broke loose!!..

SInce I have fully introduced and geared your mind with these foundations mentioned above, we can now explore the immense world and possibilities of the Financial World as we know it, but through the perspective and Doctrines of the SIth Order.. Off course, you’ll have to wait for it in my next posting.. George took 6 episodes to tell almost everything.. I may need more than that…

The SithLord’s Rise from Slumber

It has been slightly more than a year since my last posting.. which was February 9, 2012. For almost 342 days had I not posted nor commented on any of my postings…. After being critical to almost everything around me, I just felt tired and washed off.

Much had happened since then. Amongst the notable ones: the passing of my beloved mentor (no, he is not the Master Sith Lord… well.. he was my beloved grandfather, a former Federal Judge later turned business man.. and had the characteristics, sarcasms, mindset and eyes of a Sith Lord..). Others include job offers for me to turn around an ailing public company, being thrown into another round of spiritual and intellectual turn-around, and setting up of a new fresh Private Equity firm, managing Islamic private and institutional investors from various parts of the world.

Yes, you can say that such happenings can’t qualify my Slumber terminology. It is more of a hiatus rather than slumber.

Anyways, the reason for this comeback is more of to document and share with my dear beloved and deeply missed readers of my present and future endeavors which involves and will involve lots and lots of business, corporate, financial engineering, trading, arbitrage, hedging and marketing activities.. not forgetting my opinions and views of surrounding elements such as food, politics, technology and entertainment. This is due to my current position of Group CEO for the Private Equity Firm mentioned earlier. The job description requires me to be a top notch CEO, capable of making millions and billions from nothing, turning the impossibles into possibles, and turning the dead to being alive. Well, you guessed it right.. it’s a job for the Financial SithLord.. and he’s back from the DARK SIDE…

Now, though this posting is meant to be an introduction to my present and future antics, I just have to comment on George Lucas’ move of selling the Star Wars franchise to Disney.. Recently, I saw an interview of Robert A. ‘Bob’ Iger on Bloomberg, about his plans to launch a new release of Star Wars sequels, which may comprise of elaborations and expansion of Luke Skywalker’s legacy of the Jedi’s Order.

Image

Well, if its true, the new and young Jedis would definitely be a bunch of half-skilled Jedis with no sense of self-confidence and vision, unlike previous Jedi Masters such as Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and the best of all Anakin Skywalker. Why I say this is because Luke had never received the complete Jedi training, only to be trained (partially) by the ailing Yoda, and off-course, through the manifestations of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s force.. His final tasks before being called a Jedi was to kill Darth Vader, which happens to be 2/8’s of Anakin Skywalker.. the other 6/8 is actually machines.. Even then, he could not kill Darth Vader, thus he could never be conferred as a Jedi.. So, whatever legacy he passes down to the younger generations of Jedi, it would be in the impurest form.

Anyway, I’ll be waiting to see what plots and ideas Disney has to throw to all the Star Wars fans.. But definitely, the anxiety of such anticipation is not enough to make me go through another period of blogging hiatus.

Astronomical Catastrophe, Political and Economic Threats in Malaysia

Many questions lingers on my head regarding the direction of Malaysia, where its heading, economically and politically.. Rumours has it that the next General Election would be held in 2013, and not in 2012, as predicted earlier.

The consensus shows strong undercurrent amongst the opposition parties of possible power shifts in several opposition led states, namely Penang and Kedah, with internal turmoil and party hopping of members. At the same time, there are also tell-tale signs of trouble within the ruling party in several key states, which might jeopardise the power and controlling equilibrium enjoyed by Barisan Nasional. But one things is for sure, should Barisan fail to improve its political report card, major projects such as the Iskandar Region Development and all the various economic corridors may just collapse, and would be beyond repair even by the opposition. No matter how influential the Opposition Leaders may claim to be, these damages may just be unrepairable.

I sincerely do not know what are the end results of these uneasy currents.

Its also not helping that many Scientist have expressed their concerns over the possible astro disaster, said to happen in December 2012. The media are also playing a part in creating the suspense by showcasing programs on Discovery, National Geographic and History Channels, explaining the scientific facts and evidence of this possible catastrophe, such as the Mayan Calendar, theories of inter-planetary collision of Nibiru and Earth. We also suffered an extraordinary solar outburst which happened in mid January 2012, which resulted to major disturbances in telecommunications and power grids around the world. It is said the Solar Outburst was the biggest in 6 years, for which, it last happened in 2005. Probably there are some truth to such predictions, with the erratic weather conditions we’re facing nowadays. Not to mention the strange ‘non-being’ voices and noises heard in various parts of the world, including Malaysia.

Whether or not such astro related catastrophe will actually happen, can only be determined by time. However, the Government should be more proactive in relating the information to the public, and not just by relaying cover-ups and make up stories. Simple precautionary measures should be channelled to the public, informing them of creative and effective measures of minimising the catastrophic affects should it happen. If it doesn’t, then at least is better to be safe than sorry.

On the grounds, most citizens of Malaysia seems to be oblivious to such threats. Life seems to be going by as normal and people are up to things like nothing is happening. Its hard for me to judge whether its wise to do so or otherwise, but as for me, I’m scouting for safe locations which could at least buffer the affects of any catastrophe should it happen.
